Tang Qian dropped out of college to work in order to find a cure for his father's illness. One day when he was standing up for the owner of an antique shop, he bumped into a cinnabar furnace. From that day onward, he had gained a special ability whereby an elder sage's voice could be heard speaking to him in his mind, telling him a patient's diagnosis and course of treatment upon seeing the patient. He verified that the sage's prescriptions were truly effective and could even save patients on the verge of death.
