The official X (formerly Twitter) account for the Skip and Loafer anime has unveiled a Spring visual, illustrated by character designer Manami Umeshita. The accompanying caption extends congratulations and well wishes to new students and employees.

Skip and Loafer premiered on April 4 last year. The anime adaptation is based on the manga series by Misaki Takamatsu, originally serialized in Monthly Afternoon in 2018. As of March 2024, the manga has accumulated 10 tankoubon volumes published by Kodansha.

The anime, produced by P.A. Works, was helmed by director Kotomi Deai (known for Natsume's Book of Friends) and series composer. Yuriko Abe (assistant director on The Aquatope on White Sand) served as the assistant director. The talented staff also included E-Caesar as the art director, Yuuko Kobari (Inu-Oh) as the color designer, Kazuto Izumida (The Heike Story) as the compositing director, and Takatsugu Wakabayashi (Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer) as the music composer.

The cast features Tomoyo Kurosawa as Mitsumi Iwakura, Akinori Egoshi as Sosuke Shima, Yuka Terasaki as Mika Egashira, Maya Uchida as Yuzuki Murashige, and Megumi Han as Makoto Kurume.

Seven Seas Entertainment describes the manga as: 

Mitsumi is bound for high school in Tokyo! She’s got book smarts, but this small-town girl is about to find out she’s massively unprepared for the social norms of big city high schoolers.

In February, the anime was temporarily streamed for free on the FullAnimeTV YouTube channel as a fundraising effort for Ishikawa prefecture following the Noto Earthquake that occurred earlier in the year. Mitsumi's hometown in the anime is inspired by Suzu City in Ishikawa.
